That is an overestimation if you ask me. The same could have been said when we intervened in Libya.
Not to mention Egypts going mad again.

The Draft is more of a last ditch thing, I doubt it would be enacted. Thankfully it doesn't apply to College students though (there's an escape clause so to speak on it) so even if it is I don't need to worry. I don't start college matters until 20-21 days from now, so that would be just one silver lining as far as going to College is concerned that's recent. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind making sure my Country is served as much as the next guy, but I want to know we don't have to put up with Corrupt Politicians first, or at least make sure the Bad Politicians get drafted first. I won't go into the WB Church of Shitheads, either.

Egypt was going to go mad anyway, they made the mistake of putting the military back in charge after overthrowing them......
And as far as I know the Libya conflict didn't have different sides backed by other Middle East nations that hated each other. Course it has been a while since I read up on that one.
Plus would missile strikes really be very good at...not harming people that had nothing to do with the Chemical Weapons thing...

Syria's a smallish Middle Eastern nation that's been at Civil War with itself for a couple of years now and recently used chemical weapons on it's own innocent civilians. I don't know a lot of details about the nation itself though.

I'm not too sure on how Missile Strikes stack well, compared to sending professional Black Ops for the Strike Forces in to deal with the matter, really. Probably not too well I might suspect.

After Iraq and Afghanistan, going into Syria won't be much worse. There'll be swagger and chest puffing but not much more.

Cross Seal Team Six can't be our answer to everything, if it was North Korea would have woken up without a leader after those nuke threats. Plus it doesn't necessarily solve anything unless we force them to put someone specific in and that person would be seen as a puppet leader by the populace and the various terrorist organizations over there.

If you count 'chest puffing' after a life-or-death ordeal's dealt with or is being dealt with, maybe. That's assuming we don't wind up dead first! Though seriously, this is a Sadistic Decision as TV Tropes would word it, we're not gonna be happy with the decision made here no matter what.

Perhaps, but I just don't see this being as easy to smack down as North Korea's attitude was.

The key is determining the right timing.
It's a difficult situation that requires care and delicacy.

I never suggested Seal Team Six or the like being sent in, I was noting the UN can just go consider sending in strike forces from other nations. Your point still stands though. I need to think more on what else we can do, we can't just stand there and not expect to think on what to do.

which is why my only solace is Obama didn't go behind Congress's back to do this and just do it...the people actually get a chance to voice their opinion by sending emails/letters/what have you to their representatives to voice their view.
going straight to bombardment seems a bit....drastic for a first move.

@cross the UN only has a military of sorts no covert ops divisions, only individual nations have those, America has multiple branches of covert black ops groups, Israel has them, I'm fairly certain most European Nations have them. Russia I know has them.
