" Very well," The knight said " What are the terms of this ....... Contract?" I grinned a grin so disturbing that It should've belong to the legendary Cheshire Cat. "Well this contract is quite simple." I stated confidently with a flick of my wrist darkness gathered and formed into what looked like black paper formed from the gathered darkness. "This is a contract that we residents of the Dark Plains use I do believe your mongrel species uses a much inferior kind of contract." I paused to let the information process in their smaller brains. "Except these contracts contain mystical powers and once they are signed nothing can break them unless the contract has been completed." I paused once more. This time gathering more darkness to form a quill. "Now for the terms of the contract, I shall lend you my glorious might but in return I demand three things One:You will always refer to me as your Highness. Two:You will aid me in the gathering of Mystical Artifacts of Darkness so that I may become even greater. And for my Third and Final Term." I smirked once more. "The towers...I want one for myself." I smirked arrogantly "Those shall be my terms for the contract and just to let you know before you attempt to sign that contract we use our blood."

Vokun:
Vokun made a point to stay silent durning Galen's conversation with the "royal". 'That is not a good sign.' Vokun thought after hearing the "royal's" voice. He summoned a black paper from nothing, a contract, the "royal" explained. "Now for the terms of the contract, I shall lend you my glorious might but in return I demand three things One:You will always refer to me as your Highness". 'Ha'! Vokun smirked. 'Called it.' The Royal continued. "Two:You will aid me in the gathering of Mystical Artifacts of Darkness so that I may become even greater. 'Of course...thats not a surprise'. Vokun mused. "And for my Third and Final Term." The arrogance in the royal's voice astounding. "The towers...I want one for myself." Vokun scoffed. 'The royal must not be in the loop, There are barely any towers left'. The royal continued. "Those shall be my terms for the contract and just to let you know before you attempt to sign that contract we use our blood." Galen looked vokun in the eye's as if to discern what he was thinking. "I don't trust him". Vokun told Galen. "He know's a hell of a lot more than he's letting on." Vokun glanced at the royal. He could almost swear the royal was grinning. Looking back to Galen; "Ask about the artifact's." Vokun said. " If he's looking for something not meant to be found.....*sigh*..a fallen kingdom is better than a powerful relic in the hands of a madman".

Sir. Galen Farrel:
Galen listen to his companion, in truth, he was thinking the same thing; however, this had to be done. Galen slipped a small carving knife from his and sliced open his now gauntletless hand. His companion's eyes gave away his feelings at that moment, he was angry his warning was going unheeded, but Galen had his own trick up his sleeve. For he had herd of these contracts before, they were between two beings; no more, no less. As Galen signed the contract he gave his companion a reassuring smile, then turned to the cloaked figure. " I have signed your contract, now I must go and rally the guard, I would ask that you stay here and collapse any tunnels leading into the city, for it will aid greatly to our defense. Once you are done I would ask you to meat us at the main guard barracks......your Highness." Galen said giving a deep, respectful bow. As he turned to leave he herd his cloaked ally chuckle to himself, catching the the word 'mongrel' before he was out of ear shot. Galen and his companion soon exited the catacombs and were half way to their destination when Galen turned around. Golden eyes burned into his, "I know what I did; however, the contract applies to me, and only me. If I was by my self I would have never signed it." Galen paused and let out a sigh," you are here, and it is up to you to keep an eye on him. I am but a man, I know that I would never be able to stand against him should he try to grab to much power. You however, are different, you have the blood of a dragon. You are the only one I can trust to do what needs to be done, should the need arise." With that Galen continued walking, leaving his companion standing speechless on the side of the street.

Vokun:
After Vokun spoke Galen was still for a moment. Then he slipped a small carving knife from his belt and sliced open his now gauntletless hand. Vokun Looked at him furiously. 'That....fool'! Vokun screamed in his mind. "we dont know what that abomination is planning...and your going to sign our lives'!!! Galen signed the contract tired and smiled at Vokun. 'Bastard.' Vokun seethed. He didnt even bother to hear what Galen told the royal...he was too angry. As they walked out of the catacombs, Vokun gave his...companion...a look that could have frozen hellfire. "I know what I did; however, the contract applies to me, and only me. If I was by my self I would have never signed it." Galen paused and let out a sigh," you are here, and it is up to you to keep an eye on him. I am but a man, I know that I would never be able to stand against him should he try to grab to much power. 'Those words' Vokun thought. He said that to me...before. You however, are different, you have the blood of a dragon. The memory of a lost friends words overlapped Galen's. You are the only one I can trust to do what needs to be done, should the need arise." Vokun froze, leaving Galen to walk ahead. 'Jul...' Vokun looked down, up, then centered of Galen. 'I made a promise to protect those who are needed'. He thought. 'I drank the potion because you were too important to die'. 'Now someone has resigned their life for mine'. Vokun began to jog after Galen. 'I suppose not all noble's are bad, Huh buddy'?

I heard their fading footsteps as they exited the catacombs. "Hehehehehe....Step one...complete." I grinned ever so Cheshire like. "Well might as well get started. But before I do..." I gathered darkness into the flrm of a crow. "Follow them and be sure to signal me once they get to this 'barracks' they spoke of." the 'crow' nodded in understanding and took off. 'Now for those gates' I concentrated on all the darkness formed rats at the catacombs exits that leads out of the city and gather more darkness at each location 'four entrances' I gave the four blobs of darkness form into 4 giant bony hands to collapse the 4 gates. 'Crush!' Then the hands flew and pierced the top of the gates with their 'fingers' and began bringing down the stone that makes up the gates collapsing them all. 'There' I nodded my head in approval of my work. Then I checked my surrounding area with the extra set of eyes the 'rats' give me. 'Nobodies around....good' I then began to huff and puff with exertion. "That...*huff* took a large...*huff* amount of darkness..*huff* I walked slowly towards a slowly opening corridor of darknes 'I shall rest until my pawn reports of its destination.' Then he vanishes as well as all the rats and bats dispersing into darkness. 'It's time the world knows true darkness.' And so he begins his rest.

Sir. Galen Farrel:
Galen's companion jogged to catch up to him, they walked down the street in silence after that, ' I wonder many will arrive,' Galen thought to himself, 'hundreds? millions? THE ENTIRE INVASION FORCE?' Galen shook his had, forcing the thought out of his mind. He had a task to complete, a guardsmen rounded the corner ahead of them. " Galen!" the guardsmen exclaimed, flashing a big grin," Its been a while, you haven't been seen you around the barracks for the last few weeks." Galen returned the smile, "Its has been a while hasn't it, no I have been spending my time at the golden-maiden." Galen felt a nudge from his companion, suddenly snapped out of his friendly conversation. "Listen, do you know if Captain Elrog is at the barrack?" "Sure, I just started my rounds, saw him head in a few moments ago.....whats this about?" Galen placed his hand on the mans shoulder, " You will know soon enough my friend, now I must take my leave." They moved quickly after leaving the guardsmen, making up for the lost time. Soon the door was before them, Galen glanced over his shoulder,"Listen, let me do the talking. I know these men and it would be better if they heard the news from me." his hand now on the door. "You still never told me your name." he said pushing the door open, and waited for a reply before heading inside.

Vokun:
After Vokun caught up to Galen, they walked down the street in silence for awhile. Galen seemed caught up in his thoughts so Vokun just studied his surroundings. 'Wide streets, lots of dark places...'Vokun thought. If those monsters get thorough the gates...this place will fall'. A guardsmen rounded the corner ahead of them. " Galen!" the guardsmen exclaimed, flashing a big grin," Its been a while, you haven't been seen you around the barracks for the last few weeks." Galen returned the smile, "Its has been a while hasn't it, no I have been spending my time at the golden-maiden." Vokun nudged Galen, suddenly snapping him out of his friendly conversation. "No time for pleasantries". He whispered. Galen quickly asked the guard a few more questions and then left towards the barracks. Soon the door was before them, Galen glanced over his shoulder,"Listen, let me do the talking. I know these men and it would be better if they heard the news from me." Vokun nodded as if to say no argument here. Galen placed his hand on the door. "You still never told me your name." he said pushing the door open, waiting for a reply before heading inside. Vokun sighed. "It's Vokun". he said, entering the barracks.

Darkness.Pitch Black absolute darkness. It's perfect. I began to rest within this wonderful dark place. 'I can alrwady feel my power returning doubly so!' Whilst I seen all my crow see through my minds eye. The Knight and other mongrel have left the catacombs. The crow perched on a nearby building and monitored the duo as they went on their way. 'Good lets keep in pursuit.Go.' The crow took off and began following them once they were beginning to get out of sight range. They were heading towards a building with several mongrels standing guard outside the building the duo paused in their entry to the building to engage in communications with one of the mongrels. 'They seem to know each other' I mused whilst watching the conversation. Once they were finished the duo walked inside. I frowned 'I must find a window' 'Find a window.' The crow took off to obey its master and began to search the front and back of this building. I frowned once more. 'No windows on either side...Perhaps in the back...' The crow flying accordingly to its masters directions. 'There it is .' Inside the newly found window in the back was an office like area with what could be seen would be considered. 'Good Tatse' in design. I scoffed mongrels don't have good tastes they need their betters to show them 'good taste' But Lo and Behold my newfound Pawn and his Momgrel have just entered the office. I smirked 'I shall make my appearance soon.'

Sir. Galen Farrel:
'His name is Vokun,'Galen thought,'well, now I have something to call him.' The guard Barracks was a chaotic mess, shift change. guards where eating, drinking, and changing into or out of armor. Despite the confusion Galen easily spotted Captain Elrog, The bearded man was nearly as tall as himself though far slimmer. He was sitting among several other Captains, each laughing hysterically at one of Elrogs legendary jokes. "Galen!" Elrog exclaimed merrily , wiping tears from his eyes. "Laughing at your own jokes again I see." Galen replied warmly. " Well some one has to," Elrog said, offering Galen an empty seat," so, what brings you here tonight, and who is your friend?" Galen glanced at Vokun who gave a slight nod. "His name in Vokun, and ..... he and I bring some dark news." Galen said, sobering the table up with the anger that resonated off of him," Perhaps we should discuss this away from the men, don't want them to get riled up to soon." The Captains nodded and moved their group in to the officers conference chamber. Vokun was the last in, quietly shutting the door behind them. " Ok, you have us in here Galen," Elrog said," now explain, what news do you speak of." One by one the Captains slumped into seats as Galen relayed the news of the shadow army's sack of the Kingdom only fifteen miles away, and of the warning that they were going to be heading their way. " After we dispatched the scouting party in the catacombs," Galen continued, leaving out the part about the contract, " I sent our new ally to collapse all tunnels leading to into the city, leaving one less avenue for our enemy to attack with." As Galen stopped, the captains broke into a frenzy of panicked questions; however, the were quickly silenced by Elrog, who stood and looked Galen in the eye." I served with your mentor for many years, if you are any thing like him, then I will fallow you to Hell and back." The other captains, drawing comfort from Elrog's resolve, nodded their agreement. "Well, what would you have us do?" Galen thought for a long moment, "Call in all patrols and brake the news to them, I want a couple of small scouting parties to go in the direction the shadow army was last seen, if they see any thing have them get here as fast as they can." " While the scouts are gone, have the guard gather all able bodied men, arm them, once that is done we will worry about troop positions." Galen's voice commanded absolute authority as he spoke, bolstering the groups confidence in their odds. The quickly filed out of the room, the last one stopped and asked one final question. "What of the king?" to which Galen answered, " Let him cower in his chambers, for we need him not this day, tis courageous men such as your self we need the most." With a nod of reliefe the final Captain departed, Leaving Galen and Vokun alone with their thoughts.

Vokun:
When the officers left the room was dead silent. Vokun sat in the farthest chair of the room while Galen studied a map given to him by an officer. Vokun thought deeply for a short while. 'Jul...i wish you were here. 'You would have been great friends with Galen. So much.' 'I've never fought in a battle this large...this is war'. Vokun then unsheathed Dynasty, placing it tip down. He grasped the handle with both hands, placed his head apon them and quietly sung/prayed to himself. "Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin, naal ok zin los vahriin, Wah dein vokul mahfaeraak ahst vaal. Ahrk fin norok paal graan fod nust hon zindro zaan, Dovahkiin, fah hin kogaan mu draal".

Sir. Galen Farrel:
Galen studied the a map of the surrounding country side. 'Humm, if we move a battalion of men to the far side of this hill, and have another hiding in the forest, we could place the remainder of our forces right here,' Galen tapped a spot just inside the maximum range of the rampart archers,' We will lure them into a battle with the smaller force, once the archers begin firing the shadow army will be deep in the trap, all we need is a look out to blow the signal horn and they will be completely cut off.' Galen herd Vokun unsheathe his blade, fallowed by low singing.' Enjoy this peace while you can my friend,' Galen thought. Then a feeling, something told him they were not alone, Vokun felt it to, as he raised his head the cloaked man steeped forth from a well of shadow.

I see that the Knight and all but the mongrel that follows him have gone. 'Time to make my entrance.' I slowly sink into a well of darkness and once again seen my pawn and his mongrel. "Greetings." I close up the well of darkness. "Now let us get to the objective at hand we can begin your half of the contract later." I walk over to the most lavishing chair in the room. 'Guess this will have to do.' 'Be grateful I'm in a generous mood.' I shrug my shoulders and sit in the chair but of course making a few adjustments. With a flick of my hand I bring forth several small tendrils of darkness to wrap around the chair morphing it somewhat mostly minor changes an extra pillow for his back and comforters for the arms of the chair. I nod my head in approval. 'There we go.' "Now Knight." I sit down with my fist on my cheek. "Explain the situation." Just when the knight was about to speak I stopped him. "That map." I point to the map on the table. "Is too small I shall make it bigger so that I need not exert my eyes." With a flick of the wrist darkness gathered around the map. Said map begin floating in the air, then It began to hover towards the nearest wall and plant itself firmly there. Then the darkness completely devoured it. Making the map Pitch black, then it began to expand in side becoming as large if not bigger then the Conference table.I look towards the knight "Now show me and tell me the situation."

Sir. Galen Farrel:
The cloaked man had enlarged the map, It was now larger than the table the man and Vokun sat at.'Show off,' Galen thought childishly to himself, then he forced his mind to the business at hand. " Your Highness, I have given orders to the officers. The will deploy scouting parties to spy on the shadow army, while we are here readying our defenses, and return when the shadow army is on the move." Galen paused, looking to at the cloaked man, whose eyes showed that he wasn't impressed. 'To bad.'Galen thought, and then continued. "I have a plan to defeat the shadow army, order several battalions into hiding, a couple here," Galen pointed to the far side of a large hill," and here,{pointing to the dense forest across from the hill}, the remainder of our forces I will order them to hold here,{pointing to a stretch of land just out side the city}, this force will be small, it will be bait. The shadow army are no smarter than animals, they will see the small, weak army before them and charge head long towards them. I will have our archers stationed all along the battlements with orders to fire as soon as the enemy is in range." Galen paused again, letting Vokun and the Cloaked man to take in what he had said. " Once the archers start firing, a lookout at we will place in the church bell tower, will blow a signal horn. On hearing this horn, the battalions I place in hiding will emerge, encircle, and then crush inward on the enemy. The shadow army will be attacked on all sides as well as from above thanks to our archers, They will have no place to retreat and be decimated." Galen stopped, his war plan fully relayed." We three will be standing right here,{Galen tapped the map right in front of the bait}, this will allow us to ensure things go well and engage in combat ourselves. That is all, Your Highness." Galen finished, and waited for the Cloaked man and Vokun to voice their opinions.

As the Knight had finished I had my own thoughts. 'Impressive Strategy' but I frown to myself the scouting is inefficient. "Knight." The knight turns to me. "Your plan is....sound." The knight stands abit taller basking in the tiny compliment. "Though I shall tell you now.Belay the scout parties I've a much more efficent and less time consuming method to gather intelligence.." The knight looks to me giving me a questioning look. I sneer "Don't look so foolish Knight! Go through with that order! I shall deal with your intelligence issue." The Knight looked annoyed. I don't care. I turn towards the window and open it feeling the nights air and I begin to raise my arms and the tree closest to the window began to gather multiple blobs of darkness across its branches. I concentrated to give them form I desire. And so the darkness obeying my commands took the forms of crows. 'Fly now. Search for my enemies and show me their disgusting hides.' The crows shudder as they are animated with their command and begin to caw as they take flight towards the gate and spreading out beyond his eyesight. 'Now to wait' he opens his minds eye and waits patiently for the remarks of the knight and his mongrel.

Vokun:
Vokun sat patiently as Galen relayed his plan. At first he was skeptical but as Galen went on Vokun began to see a chance of survival. We three will be standing right here,{Galen tapped the map right in front of the bait}, this will allow us to ensure things go well and engage in combat ourselves. That is all, Your Highness." Galen waited for the others opinions. When the royal finished voicing his, Vokun stood sheathing dynasty as he did. Vokun spoke; "Galen...I still don't believe we can save this kingdom". "your strategy is sound; however your missing a key part". Galen's eyebrow arched. "Morale". Vokun said. "An army facing the unstoppable needs someone to say they can do it. Not just anyone mind you, they need the highest authority they know to say it." "I'll-" Galen was about to speak when Vokun cut him of. "No, I'll handle the king." "In every coward lies a caged lion". "It's only a matter of finding the key".
