The thread's name is actually quite misleading. Anyways, I have a very rough idea for a sci-fi story, and I was wondering if you fellas and fellettes had any input.
Alright, so the premise is that it's quite a few hundred years into the future, big advancements in science , blah blah blah... Anyways, about 200 years before our story begins, what was widely accepted as the second coming of Jesus was born. He was kind and caring, and lead his church very well, but as they tend to do, radically religious people bugger everything up. Once the second fellow died (We'll call him Castiel because I'm unoriginal and can't be bothered to think of another name) a part of the church worked in secret for about a decade with some scientific coorporation (I'll call it BardsCorp because I can't think of a better name of the top of my head), and suddenly out of nowhere they bring forth a child, no more than ten years old, who they claim is Castiel. They explained how they did it, and though the church was shocked, they took the fact that the child was allowed to live as a good sign.
Fastforward 30 years. The boy grows into a man, but he is very different than the Castiel before him. He is evil to his core, but does his best to hide it from all his peers, while at the same time leading them and the world towards an unimaginable fate. He slowly corrupts the church and begins to use his monetary power to hire people (think snowden and al qaeda but futuristic and much more fuckupthingsey) to keep world governments busy while he goes on the "Modern Crusades," or so he calls them. Slowly, but surely he ends up taking control of the vast majority of europe and begins moving into asia, but when he falls ill, whatever will he do?
The asshole clones himself again and raises Castielll to be just like him. When the second Castiell dies and the third Castielll takes place, things continue in the way they were before. It's not long before the entire world belongs to the church, and Castielll is satisfied.
If you're curious as to what they used to take shit over (it's sci fi, tanks and guns are too normal for this) then thank you, as that's one of the main parts of this story.
They use genetically engineered superhumans known as Angels to fight. An angel stands at roughly 9 feet, and has large metallic wings growing from it's back. These wings are about as sharp as Teal's wit, so you best not touch them. They have a harness across their chest that binds the wings to them, but in order for the wings to work correctly, they must sacrifice the use of heavy body armor, so most of their skin is exposed. This doesn't matter much, though, because they react very quickly, and are able to slice bullets out of the air with their wings. Yes, they could just block the bullets, but that's not nearly as cool.
Fastforward another few dozen years. We're now on CastielV, who behaves just like his 'father' and 'grandfather', but he's not important right now.
A rebellion has sprang up known simply as the Devils. They use the angel's skin exposure to their advantage and use incendiary warfare against them, which seems to be a rather effective tactic. This group of rebels is still young, though, and they aren't doing nearly as much damage as they want to.
Anyways, that's where the beginning of the first novel/short story/whateveridecidetowrite picks up.
Thoughts?
