Speaking of books I went on a mini vampire classics re-read. Main highlights were that Dracula is overall pretty meh, Carmilla is probably the best one, and also classic lit vamps tended to be *really* hard to kill.
Like Dracula can't be killed, or even really harmed, at all, during the night, and the way they kill him at dawn in the book isn't how the exposition scenes said you kill a vampire. Carmilla is impaled through the heart, decapitated, dismembered, and then the pieces are burned to ashes, and after all that they still go to the effort of putting the ashes in different locked boxes and burying those on holy ground, to, quote/paraphrase "make sure she can never return". There's also a french one called La Morte Amoureuse (or The Dead Leman in english) where the vampire lady Clarimonde is seen disintegrating into a pile of dust when they pour a bucket of holy water right into her coffin, and the next night she just reappears completely fine.
In other news, old but my bday was on oct. 4th, turned 33. Also Bigby's Glory of Giants is now the 2nd official non-Adventure 5e book I don't have.
I'm also playing Baldur's Gate 3, laptop runs in better than I expected. Nearing the end of Act 2 I think, and playing a half-elf Great Old One Warlock.

Also HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!!!!. Sometimes I forget you're like 3 years older than I am lol. Well I still haven't the means to play boulders gate 3 but as soon as I scrape up enough money to buy a PS5 ,preferably one that doesn't cost more than my portion of the mortgage, it's definitely one of those must buys at the top of my list

Overall not much has been going on lately. At work one of the teachers had a sub yesterday who acted like a butthole and today that teacher apologize to me for the way her sub acted which I was appreciative of but it did raise the question of who actually told her about the sub.
Like I was going to let it go because it wasn't worth the hassle and I only told like one or two of my coworkers and I doubt that they got in contact with her which means that either the sub told them herself or the other sub that was in the room contacted the teacher to let her know what happened.
Either way it was still nice to get an apology for something that happened, even if it wasn't the person who actually did the thing that was apologizing.
____
And in unrelated news I started my Christmas shopping today. Got the new armored Core game for my step brother and a really shiny metallic rainbow haired doll from my half sister. Also picked up a Barbie box set with like a jet ski and stuff in it for one of my co-workers kids. She and me are pretty close friends by this point and she's a very recently singled mother. I know most of her family is a few states away and I felt bad that this is going to be her little daughter's first Christmas with the family all split up like it is so I figured I would do something nice and play the part of Santa. Lol

I've been doing alright, mostly working, which sucks, but you know, money. yeah I hear that right now I'm currently in the middle of Thanksgiving break but I have to go at least for one day back to work before the break ends so I'll be punching in for a little while on Friday. As for my main game I have some really fun stuff cooked up for them I have this whole little misadventure Within a giant desert that they have to cross. and it's got everything from airships to Giants to dragons. I've even interwoven some personal stuff for both of the player characters in there now it's just finding a good time to get the ball rolling on it. Schedules for D & D have been kind of misaligning but that's okay it happens I remember a while back we postponed one of my games for like 2 months.

Happy Thanksgiving dude, im alright. Getting older means hangovers exist & suck now. But im very glad to hear good things coming from your neck in the woods. Im also happy you've delved back into DMing. XD Im sure it helped to cut your teeth on our misadventures back in the day

Like for example last session the players free to bunch of people from a slave Caravan and it turned out that the people they freed were actually one of the player characters subjects, tldr player character is a runaway princess who has to reclaim her throne and become Queen by overthrowing the wicked Aunt who pulled a quiet coup, and after giving one hell of a rousing speech the bulk of them are going back to join the resistance movement one in particular is going to become a very important NPC down the line having essentially sworn a paladin oath of the crown to the true and future Queen

In other news. I don't want to say I have a date for next Saturday but I might have a date. Me and a girl have known for a few years now got to talking again and one thing led to another and we agreed to go out to something called a rage room.
So worst case scenario I'm having a good time with a friend best case scenario I might end up with a relationship. Which I've been meaning to put myself back out there it's been about 3 years since me and my ex split up and I just feel it's time

Also, long time no see man! How's life been treating you? Been good, thank you. Until I got hit by a car last week. My first accident, hurray! Broken tibia at the knee. Going to be out of work for a while. But I'll be okay. In other news. I don't want to say I have a date for next Saturday but I might have a date. Stand straight, act like a gentleman, and when she comes in, give her a dashing, debonair smile. But don't frighten the poor girl; impress her with your rapier wit. But be gentle. Shower her with compliments, but be sincere. Also, smell nice. But not too strong. Fingers crossed.

So update yesterday Saturday my date went fairly well. Not exactly sure if we are actually like dating now or still just trying to feel things out.
It did end with her agreeing we should go out again sometime so that's a good sign. Short version is we went to a mall around noon grab some Chinese food from the food court and went through a few shops to kill time, then went to a birthday party for one of her friend's kids that she had forgotten she agreed to go to and got permission for me to show up as a plus one for a little while.
Which a quick rundown on the venue that they had booked for the party that place was massive it was like Chuck-E-Cheese turned up to freaking 20 and had a whole last rock wall, obstacle course that even took you above the food area and you had to hook yourself to a harness from like the ceiling to make sure you didn't fall on the tables, basically a big ass bouncy house that spanned the entire width of the left side of the building, the right side front of the building had a big swimming pool area with outdoor patio and inside the building on the right hand side was an entire game arcade section like they were arcade machines, rows of TVs hooked up to Xboxes and PlayStations, Rose of computers for computer gaming some Nintendo switches hooked up to some TVs and old ass TV hooked up to an N64, a little modular mini golf area and this whole smaller room within the bigger room with a virtual reality rig.
it was all so an area for a little toddlers called the sensory room a couple private party areas and like an actual bar area with a TV screen showing football that ran from Floor to ceiling
We were there for a couple hours and I wound up just kind of playing awkwardly on a few of the arcade machines because I only knew like one or two people there and technically I was crashing a kid's birthday party lol.
Then after we left we went to the rage room and had a pretty fun time I got to smash a bunch of stuff with a crowbar and then we went to dinner at this really fancy place that we didn't know was a fancy place until we got there
like we had never heard of the restaurant before it was called something like the max. And the GPS took us through this upper class Suburban neighborhood with a whole golf course and everything like it looked like it was one step below a gated community and the restaurant was inside of this like little two-story Clubhouse on the golf course and it was a little on the expensive side but the food was really worth it I'm just thankfully didn't require a reservation cuz that would have been embarrassing.
