Since I'm the Techie, and Knuk's the Weaponsmith, do we get to build awesome weapons and shit? *Puts on gloves* What do you need? Swords, Guns, Bombs?

I do think we could get quite creative. Between the two of us.

Nevermind, guess I won't be the engineer girl who builds stuff then.

I'd also like having a way to make them superhuman cause some monsters are just too powerful.

I'm not quite remeberant of how high your society's technology is, but probably simplest option for making the team superhumanish would be mechanical augmentation.

My urban fantasy is modern day-ish level in tech advancement but monsters have some futuristic-like stuff since they attained high cognition well before humans existed. For exemple Abyssal class vamps are 6-7 million years old, though they haven't been developing that long since they weren't very numerous so didn't have a society for most of that time, were more interested in being living gods than having an advanced society and since they can do many things that we can't the need for tools and machines is much lesser.

Hm, so maybe a successful and well funded Merc group could afford to get some top of the line stuff for themselves. Plus having Ruliya engineering genius to create in situ.

"This is above my pay grade..you need to pay me higher if you want this to get back to be in it. Please pay me higher"
Well incendiary rounds could retard or prevent regen, so would liquid nitrogen rounds (which I intend to be Ice's idea for obvious reasons), extremely toxic rounds could for monsters under a certain level, or high explosive rounds for those who need to maintain a certain amount of structural integrity (which is alot of them, like 80-90+ % )

Maybe start out separate, get recruited individually and be just reaaaally good at combat at 1st but the scientifically knowledgeable ones (plus help from the rich contractors or something) manage to use the strain cells to create biological augments. And it would fail at 1st but succeed when they get a "Primeval" sample.

"My first taste of the Strain? Man, you see those movies where some dipshit with a bad haircut gets bit up by a bug, or falls into some glowy reactor waste or some shit like that, and they wake up the next day all fresh and suddenly they've got superpowers? Let me tell you, the guys making those movies can kiss my ass. 'Bout as soon as I shoot up with the adapted culture serum, it feels like someone just took a shot at my balls with a sledgehammer; why the fuck did it do that? Didn't happen to the others, what kind of bullshit is that, man?
Well it's just about that time that the fever'd set in on us. Well, that's about the best way I can describe it in normal people terms. Maybe I'd compare it to a bad flu? Agh, anyways... I've done a fair share of drinking, I handle the occasional shot of morphine pretty good, but whooo boy, if that shit didn't fuck me up. Take a few shots of the nastiest Downstrom Kash you can find right up the nose, with 10 cc of Paraxozine, and wash it down with a party bag of Psychedelics and there's the closest thing I can imagine to what things started to feel like after the first few hours. But that's small compared to what came next. What nobody knew at the time was the Strain made you hallucinate, HARD. And this was some scary shit to get a certified hardass of Ragnarok Company off his balance--I had fucking ants hatching out of my teeth for days. It wasn't over quick either. It was twenty-two-seven pure nightmare fuel, with a couple of lucid moments sprinkled throughout just to make you realize how much you miss the real world before you go back to being skullfucked by a clown.
Alongside that, don't know what, but the Strain does something to the sweat glands when it works on ya, I guess to make the skin elastic enough to keep from tearin' under the tension of the changes. But fuck, it makes every inch of you feel rubbery and oily, like you've been rubbed over with petrogel. But it stops ya from radiating away the heat in your body, and so we're all running temps near enough to cook in, and all of this shit on our skin's keeping us from cooling off. Nurse tried to scrape some of it off of course, but the nasty shit's oozing out so quick she gives up and goes back to just tryin to keep me stable.
And yeah, that's about all there is to tell. I don't remember much else besides the hallucinations. Docs say we woke up about a week later, confused and mad as all hell, that they had to keep most of us on meds for a few more days before we came back to our senses. The end result? Well, that's pretty clear enough to see, don't you think?
Mhm, the later infusions hurt more, hurt like nothing else you can imagine. But at least there's no hallucinations. That's talk for another time though, classified info and company secrets and all that jazz, ya know?"
