The Omnidisciplinarian: was a Vault-Tec scientist living near Vault 111, ostensibly to oversee in secret, but really because she wanted to cryogenically "time-travel". The hubby and the baby were a vat-grown cover. She doesn't mind people dying to further her goals but always disliked directly murdering someone herself, thus she uses PA as a buffer of sorts, and also because, why not use an overwhelming technological advantage if you can afford to abuse it ? Upon seeing the ruin the world has become she forgoes furthering Vault-Tec goals seeing as they're basically gone as a structured organization she decides to track down the remaining part of her cover to see what the kidnappers wanted with it. A Clean Suit wearing team (with a waster merc as hired muscle) taking an infant from a vault obviously pointing scientific research well above the level that should exist in the world as it presently is. She soon learns about this "Institute" entity and endeavours to uncover it. She uses the BoS for their resources until she can reach her goal. Then upon getting there is quite pleased to learn that the vat-grown infant is now the leader of the place, immediately granting her favored status with zero effort involved, and even more pleased to learn that he's dying and willingly names her his successor. She now has "legal" control over a highly advanced faction and freedom to carry out virtually any experiment she wants.
The Scrap Queen: this one I didn't even bother with accommodating the prologue, she's a wasteland-born junk techie. Found the Pip-Boy while exploring an old vault. Rushed through the main quest but it only tangentially happened, so to speak. She just wanders around collecting junk and building stuff with it. She has a personality alike to a Borderlands character, which I somewhat incorporate into her playstyle to "justify" magic-ish legendary effects and perks. Her HQ is a huge scrap tower on Spectacle Island, where also has an hovering metal airship (ie. a mid-air shack shaped sorta like a small zeppelin) and a pair of wandering Mr.Handy/Ms.Nanny.
The Eldritch Worshipper: Infant shaun is a baby she kidnapped for a ritual, Nate was her Renfield of sorts. Shielded by her Old Gods she was conscious the whole time in Vault 111. When her pod opens she sets upon getting the infant back so she can do her ritual, and as an aside, find a new Renfield, though she very soon finds out the latter is no longer needed. She sides with the Railroad because 1: the seem to hold the most hatred for her target (ie. those who stole her ritual mcguffin) and 2: their HQ is an old underground tomb so she likes it there. Though she also converted the Slog into a temple of sorts. She sensed and sought out Kremvh's Tooth and the Hand of Ug-Qualtoth (ie. renamed deatchclaw gauntlet that I pretend has always been a lovecraftian artifact). I wanted her to have either that Mongrel/zombie dog you can find or one of the dogs whose fur pattern looks like a hyena but I didn't come across either in this file.
The Assassin: was a professional killer for the government pre-war (which I RP is what "family's service to our country" really meant, as opposed to the veteran hubby). The little suburb house was part of an infiltration mission. She knew the purpose of Vault 111 and was instructed to go along with it so she could resume her service after radiation levels died down. Of course though the government didn't survive so that didn't pan out too well. Having no directives and being a pretty aloof and affectively flat person herself she didn't have much to do besides entertaining her light sense of curiosity and tracking down the vault intruders. Plus she didn't like that bald guy's face so it'd be pretty neat if she got to kill him she guessed. Being an expert of manipulation she knew pretending to be a distraught mother would make most people strong desires to help her, she wouldn't even have to fake emotions, just tell someone your spawn was stolen and let their empathy fabricate and attribute you feelings. Eventually she found and infiltrated the Railroad, which she liked well enough, codenames and secrecy were familiar and fun, especially since she was being secretive to them too, infiltrating infiltrators was always one of her favorite things, seeing people act smart and in control while knowing you were above them. The Institute held her interest even more however, it was even more secretive, much more advanced and most importantly, more morally fluid. Doing the dirty work for greater good was her thing, though she much preferred the "dirty work" part and didn't really care what the underlying goals were. Advanced killer bots and life-extending cybernetics she did care for though. She pretended to immediately believe Father was her son instead of asking for a test, knowing that it would turn out negative since she wasn't really his mother. She wasn't sure what to think of being made Director at 1st since she preferred field work but it seemed like the thing could run itself regardless and there were many things best done by her anyways so she ultimately decided it was a pretty good deal.
The Soldier/Brotherhood Sentinel: This one I played pretty loose with the prologue, Nate being her brother that she was visting and her law degree being from a brief FBI field agent background (you need a law degree to be in it) or something like that. At first she helps out the Minutemen since they're vaguely militaristic and they protect people, which is mostly why she had been a soldier for pre-war. But she "switches" to the BoS once they make their appearance since they're much closer to an actual military and much better equipped. Though she's not overly fond of their more extreme policies but she rather quickly comes to realize that she's far and away the primary driving force of any significant progress they make so as long as she doesn't actively pursue those goals herself the targets will probably be fine. She's pretty clear cut and direct but also sensible. So for exemple she agrees that super mutants are a threat to basically anything that isn't them or is also a threat so methodically wiping them out is more than fine but Virgil still has the same non-feral and morally good mind he had as a human and he's actually trying to reverse the condition, which has a chance to work since it worked on him, so she let him live. She killed Danse but only after he himself insisted to be shot, she didn't terminate a traitor, she carried out the last wishes of a brother in arms. Now as a Sentinel who's effectively free of directives, only the vague standing order to "seek and destroy threats", she resumed acting as a protector of the people with the benefit of not being forced to do things she disagrees with. After all how could she be accused of not being true to the brotherhood if she spends her time feeding lead to Muties and Ferals ?
The Raider Heavy: My only male SS and somewhat of a paradox, he's basically the Eldritch Worshipper's "hubby" who would have waken up some time after she left the Vault, he's pretty aimless without his master though so he just built up a raider army (ie. MM settlements where I put raider gear on all settlers) cause he thought she'd like having them if they ever reunite. He comes as not very smart, even dim but he's not stupid, just utterly broken in will. Not weak willed per se, he's pretty stubborn when he goes after something but he severely lacks agency. He's basically her Reek if you will.
