Up until around Megalon a lot of the team seems overkill.

Up until around Megalon a lot of the team seems overkill. Thats the point in a way. Over kill for the weaker enemies (though each one getting tougher and tougher to take down until they hit their first real challenge.)

Right, I meant I don't think there is a challenge at all until Megalon...and I'm not sure on him depending on incarnation

Well, Otachi is the one that can spit super acid that melts clean through buildings in seconds and can fly pretty fast....it also took a big as robot sword to kill

True....but 18 and John are quite up there firepower wise. Yea, and they are going to need that firepower for when they start hitting the top monsters. Its kind of set up like a video game. you plow through the mooks & elite mooks, feeling good about yourself because things haven't been to tough....then you hit the mini boss who snaps you back into reality and lets you know things only get harder from here. that said the "mini-bosses" start at Otachi and end at Space Godzilla.

I have similar thoughts, up to the Godzilla ones it's basically a curbstomp.

Besides Hal Jordan and 18 being far more powerful than the rest, Heller and MCU Iron Man kinda seem too low to really be of much relevance here, but that might just be me.
It might also be my lack of knowledge, but King Kong, I-Rex, and The Warrior seem out of place.

Iron Man and heller are perfect for the smaller monsters, Stark Provides close air support and tactical analysis. Heller deals with goliaths so he is use to building sized enemies......and the fact that he can out run attack choppers and slap missiles out of the air is a bonus. ---- Kong is really just a worm up. The I-Rex is more challenging due to its active camo, thermal tracking, body heat manipulation, advanced intelligence, bullet/missile proof skin, and ability to control the other animals on the island. The warrior is the first truly large enemy on the list. It has some decent attacks and only one real weak spot.

"the other animals on the island."
Or after five minutes of not finding it 18 explodes the island and they go out for pizza and wait for the next round..

Right, no clue why I mentioned Jordan...I'm just used to assuming Jordan on vs type matches...I know, it just seems that in comparison to the rest of them that they're far lower on the chain than the rest to me. Fair enough. Don't know what Warrior can do, but Zilla has some feats from IDW comics that are fairly impressive in comparison to what he was shown in the movie. Also, for clarification, is this Zilla or Zilla Jr, Zilla Jr was far superior to Zilla from what I remember. If it's original Zilla then current incarnation would be Mecha Zilla.

There's a couple Zilla's in the canon, the original, Jr., Zilla from Final Wars was stated to be its own Zilla, and I believe IDW Zilla is also its own thing (course that's also its own continuity)
