Even though I'm a bit busy with everything this year, I figured this would be something good to do in terms of constructive fun and get ya'll in on the fun. Namely I'm gonna play Hearts of Iron 3: Their Finest Hour by selecting a nation and playing it though World War 2. Now, I'll give more details if this generates any type of interest but its basically a grand strategy game that roughly looks like this: Its not so much about the graphics as it is about the management of the war. Controlling the politics, industry, intelligence agencies, armies, research and various things to achieve that nations aims in the war.... or whatever you choose to attain.
Despite there being a bunch of info panels, millions of variables, the enough depth to sink a battleship in - its very fluid in what you want to attain - within reason.
To that end; I really like it as a history, strategy and military nut. However, I want to include you on the action, and the first step is:
What nation should I play? While Germany is the most obvious choice - think hard. What nation would you like to guide through the war, as you'll be part of the decision making. Everything from politics, research, armies, etc - will also be up to you. So... which nation?

Which nations are available? All of them. I could play is Cuba if I wanted. Though that'd just leave me detailing how utterly boring it is to control Cuba in WW 2.

How about Japan? Try to control the Pacific. One vote for Japan. Played them before, its kinda hard to get used to such a resource deprived country but we can probably make it work.

The rising sun. It sounds like more of a challenge. It is ^^. I haven't played them in this version of the game. To be fair, its gonna be ultra short if I can't beat the Chinese.

In the original game? Yeah. This game is super intense involved yet still allowing changes too occur. In my two playthroughs with Japan, the Communist forces in China royally fucked up their offense and were killed off early as China brought their full might upon them. So I basically had a unified china to attack and no matter what I tried - I couldn't achieve a break through and my attacks with my navy's airforce was often.... ineffective. However, Their Finest Hour is suppose to make it much more playable and realistic. So I should be able to achieve a break through and go on to take out China.
