I said physical death, as in just kick their asses, like the blades did, they "killed" all dragons, that's why they weren't there anymore until Skyrim happened And judging by the old bitch who tries to boss you around they weren't especially great warriors You cant really judge the entire order based off of her. They WERE great warriors, in fact, they were basically the Samuri of the Elder Scrolls franchise; however, they were engaged in a shadow war long before the Great War happened, then once the Dominion invaded....the Blades were their primary targets....then once they Piece treaty was signed, the Dominion pulled a "Great Purge" and hunted them down to the last man. There are only a hand full of blades left in hiding. Three are in skyrim, Esbern & Delphine. The third is a drunken old man who never leaves the Nightgate inn. Thalmors are just slightly elite mooks, they can't have been that great.

Not to mention that Cooldown times for shouts are a game mechanic. I don't think you can spam shouts forever but you could do a lot more in succession depending on the power of the shout Also, higher level dragons have access to more than just fire and ice. They also have the one that drains Heal, stamina, and magic, and lore wise there were even dragons that could use storm call. Lets not forget that Alduin has that meteor rain power, and can actively raise dragons from the dead. But they already don't have cooldowns so removing those doesn't make them anymore dangerous than they are in-game

With only a few thousand members by the time the great war happened....the Dominion was an entire army who were tough enough to kick the empires ass. The only reason they are so easy for the Main Character to defeat is because the MC is the MC. I have played on harder difficutly levels of the game and found that it is quite easy to be over whelmed by the thalmore soldiers should you go in ill prepared.

Composite ES would have all Dovakiin's including Talos The ES side would have all the MCs save for the Champion of Cyrodiil. it wouldn't have the Champion of Cyrodiil...because he became Sheogorath and thus a Demon God.

Darkspawn could be useful fodder. I'll bring up some feats later. But overall, each is dangerous since even in death they are poison. The taint either slowly kills or turns others into darkspawn or to thete side. It even capable of effecting the supernatural.
