Release Date: August 15th 2014 Director: Patrick Hughes Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lungren, Kelsey Grammer, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz Synopsis: On a job to stop the selling of thermobaric bombs the crew encounters one of the original founders of the Expendables who has gone bad, and course they go after him Story: Ok so here's the thing, Stallone said in interviews that he tries to bring in people who haven't got much attention for a while and give them another chance to get back up, and this nice of him and all, but having young unknown actors added to the mix does 2 things that aren't very good for the movie itself: One, having a cast about twice as big means everyone only gets about half as much attention so the action becomes lots of small cool bits rather than less but longer and more awesome moments of badassery (such as the "man and knife" scene in Expendables 2). Two, what makes The Expendables special is that the cast are (mostly) old action stars and reminisces their past glory, putting in young actors just makes it a normal action movie, however good it might be. That said the plot itself is technically good enough, though imo not quite as good as Expendables 2's and also not that well executed. Mel Gibson was pretty good as the villain though, even with his slightly anti-climatic end Action: As mentioned above, it's up to par with good modern action movies but it has nowhere near as much of the oldschool cheesy badassery, it's spread a bit too thin Humor: Strangely enough, the movie is kinda more funny than badass, I seriously laughed a lot during it (well chuckle more like cause being loud in theater is dicky). And this isn't to say that it's not badass, there's still lots of cool action, but it's still arguably funnier than badass cause it's just that hilarious Final Judgement: Besides the thin spreading and decrease is quality of the badassery it's still a pretty cool action movie. Plus it's really funny so I'd still recommend it, just don't expect the same "better-sequelness" as N°2

Release Date: October 24th 2014 Director: Chad Stahelski Cast: Keanu Reeves, Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, Willem Dafoe Synopsis: The son of a russian mob boss steals the car and kills the puppy of a "nobody". That "nobody" was John Wick, aka Baba Yaga Story: It's an action movie so obviously it's not gonna have an amazing story, but it still more than does the job. There's some world building even, it gives the impression of being a setting in which things happened before. The characters make sense, they mostly don't do stupid movie mistakes and they're savvy. Minus the aforementioned son, he's an overconfident lil shit, though it's arguably understandable. In short, it won't make you rethink your outlook or anything but you won't find it dumb either. Last side-note, I think this may be Keanu Reeves' best acting ever, I know he gets flak for being blank and stuff but he was good here, so props Action: It's great, John Wick is kinda like John McClane except more badass (don't cry blasphemy, he's a top tier hitman, McClane is a cop, it's to be expected). What I mean by this is, he struggles a bit, he gets wounded, he gets some help a couple times, etc. So he comes across like a really badass real guy rather than some superhuman terminator who never gets hurt (or ignores wounds) and curbstomps every single opponent in 2 seconds flat. Also there's every flavor here, CQC, knives, stealth, guns, cars, whatever you prefer, there's a moment for you. Also also, and this is worth noting nowadays, the action scenes are well shot, no silly cutting, no stupid shaky cam or what have you. Cool shit happens and you get to see it well Final Judgement: If you like action movies you should go see it, no question. If you don't like action movies, we have nothing to talk about
