I agree with a lot, but as an avid comic fan, I have a few, minor problems. the Nova Corps are the Green Lanterns of the Marvelverse aaand they were pathetic. Ronan, while the Accuser and a powerful fucker, isn't anywhere near Thanos. Was great to see Thanos, loved that tiny cameo, but Ronan would not be stupid enough to threaten him, in the least stone or no stone. Thanos the Mad Titan, in case some didn't know means he's from Titan, yes the Moon of Saturn. But that's beside the point. All things aside, great movie.

Well like I mentioned before, non big on comics so stuff that's unlike the comics in the movies I tend to miss so I'm not bothered by them. And the changes I do notice I just brush as "this is an AR, doesn't have to be the same"

As a comic fan what I do is compartmentalize. The Movie verse is an AR, I get it and don't care. After the fact, comic fan me has the little go's, but I let it all pass

My big bro told me Yondou was supposed to be a Guardian instead of a space pirate too, but he was cool anyway so who cares

Something you may feel pissed off about, as I was. Gamora? She is know as The Most Dangerous Woman, in the Universe. She can kill soooo many fucking mooks and powers...
Drax annoyed me for a few reasons, as a Comic fan, but I can let it slide.

@ru actually Thanos smacked down with the Annihilators recently and Ronan was stupid enough to attack him from behind....and did jack shit to Thanos...and got curbstomped..while Thanos narrated the stupidity and curbstompyness to Ronan out loud. So..that might actually be pretty accurate. He also snapped Ronans hammer in half.

That's what I mean, comic wise, Ronan is nowhere near Thanos' level.

I was just saying he would be stupid enough to threaten Thanos, considering his comic version was stupid enough to slam his hammer to the back of Thanos head as he was beating the crap out of Beta Ray Bill. I doubt movie Thanos took it seriously.

In the movie he only threatens him after getting an Infinity Gem, he thinks that makes him invincible

Thanos has pwned people with single gems before, hell that's how he got the power gem he out fought the guy with it. If this Thanos is anything like the comic version he's indulging Ronan till he stops being useful.

Which is probably why he doesn't do anything after Ronan's betrayal, he probably planned to let him be until he actually attacked him, he wasn't threatened in the least, he was just waiting for Ronan to bring him the Gem

Release Date: July 25th 2014 Director: Luc Besson Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Morgan Freeman, Choi Min-sik, Amr Waked Synopsis: A woman gets..let's say contaminated for the sake of avoiding both inaccuracy and spoilers, with a drug that unlocks more and more of her brain capacity, which gives her progressively more powerful superpowers Setting: Taipei (capital of Taiwan if you dunno), Paris, Rome and...Berlin I think, it's exactly modern day Earth except for the fact that brain capacity % stuff isn't bullshit in the movie's world Story: Ok so 1st, the entire premise is 100% (ha!) BS, on the one hand, the director knows this but says he went with it anyway for the sake of speculative fun (ie. ya it's bs but what if it wasn't ?), on the other hand it could have worked by saying the drug is based on an alien substance (which would actually be more believable) or just unexplained/left open. But that's not really harmful to the movie as a whole anyway. Characters-wise, eh..everyone is pretty well or even very well acted but the characters themselves aren't really developed. Morgan Freeman is a scientist who studies brain % stuff, Amr Waked is a french police chief who follows Lucy because she "needs a link to humanity" and is completely useless otherwise (which he points out), Choi Min-sik is a crime lord who casually murders people in his office so we know nothing except he's a really bad person and Lucy, starts as an unremarkable woman, totally average person, not especially smart (even a bit stupid maybe) and pathetically weak. As her brain % usage increases she becomes more pragmatic, composed and apathetic (which the movie calls "losing humanity" and I call "becoming stronger") and it's even pretty sudden, she starts up crying and screaming when grabbed by henchmen to (immediately after getting the drug in her system) gunning down a room full of mooks in about one second and digging a bullet out of her shoulder with her fingers, without so much a twinge of facial expression. The story itself is mostly a bland excuse to see cool stuff happen (which btw I don't count as a bad point if the cool stuff is cool enough, which it is here imo) and partly reflexion on the purpose of life, which I is nice enough and also I think deserves props for including because many people probably won't understand the reflexion but the movie has them anyway. There's also 2 critiques I could see people having that aren't really valid imo. 1-> At the Beginning they use short animal footage as metaphors to show what's happening to Lucy but stop doing it later, but I think that's on purpose to show that at the start Lucy is a weak animal being controlled by other animals but later it stops because she's evolved above animalistic human nature. 2-> Post-Drug!Lucy is pretty much invincible and faces no challenge at all so there's no "drama" or "suspense", to which I reply: There's no suspense in any movies, the good guys always win, doesn't matter if they get beat up a bit or not. And also, who cares, cool stuff happens, it's entertaining, stfu Action: As I discussed above, the action (that's most of the "cool stuff") is great, and it's greatly done too, by which I mean, no fucking shaky cam and also pretty well edited together Special FX: Like I've said in other reviews, nowadays pretty much any movie with good budget has good SFX, this one included Final Judgement: As one might guess from the above, if you want drama or suspense or deep characters, those aren't there so find something else, but if you just wanna see cool stuff happen (and ponder a bit about the purpose of life) then it's a pretty good movie, dunno if I'd say great but if it's not great it's not very far from it
