The Avengers appear to defend the Earth from the Tripod invasion, in addition to the core members they get the House Party protocol armors including all the armors from previous films in the protocol except the armor from Avengers which Tony is wearing. Rohdes is also in play in the War Machine/Iron Patriot armor. Can the Avengers repel this alien invasion? Or does the world fall.

Well I'm going to say that, unless Black Widow and Hawk-eye get into one of the House Party suits then they are probably the first to get dropped, fallowed by Cap if he isn't quick enough with his shield. Iron Man suit as well as the House Party suits Might provide strong enough to with stand heat beams, they just need to get past the Tripods energy shields to do any damage. That said I think Thor and Hulk have the best chance, more so Hulk due to his healing abilities.
Tripod attack
Here is where the US military is throwing every thing they have at the tripods, you don't see that there is no effect untill the end where you see the shields.

I'd say the full power Destroyer beam was at least equal to the Tripod beams, Thor dealt with that pretty easily when his powers were restored. I imagine he'd be able to do similar to the Tripods. He and Hulk may even have enough raw strength to break through the shields anyway.

That's why I'm saying that they are really the best options in dealing with the Tripods. Iron Man, War Machine, and the Armors can provide a distraction until the Hulk or Thor break through the shields. Once the shields are down the Tripods can be dropped with conventional weapons, its just getting through the shields that is the hard part.

True, I debated giving them access to S.H.I.E.L.D and their hellicarrier as extra weapons or something but seemed overkill.

I mean, the Tripods shot down a 747 that was flying at night and more than likely at max altitude. It crashed down on top of the house the main characters were staying in, lucky for them they were in the cellar. Anyway, the Hellicarrier would be nothing but a huge flying target.

I would say the gamma radiation Hulk gives off would be more effective than the Hulk himself.

Too many deaths on all counts with that thing You know the saying, "If you go to Mexico, don't drink the water." Its like that, except instead of just getting sick, they got sick and died. It was basically the earth it's self using biological war-fair against the aliens.

Could Thor's lightning short out the shields possibly? I don't recall the Humans using anything like an EMP type weapon against the Tripods.
Like how we developed immunity to certain diseases and then introduced them to a population not inoculated against it, the Martians had no immunity to Earth microbes.

Weak Sauce really. Still better than Signs where the unintelligent life decided to attack a planet that was 70 percent their Kryptonite.

I imagine Thor's lightning being very useful, and his weather control period. That was one place Dark World dissapointed me as they made Thor just smash Malekith and Kurse except one time when he tried to save Frigga.
