Just throwing this out there, I didn't hate the 50th. It had good parts and bad, but it wasn't in my top ten. Maybe it's because, like Lady Ruliya said, they took away such an important part of Eccleston's Doctor. His emotion was so real. The pain and grief he felt over the choice he'd made was so raw. It's like the 50th just took all of that away from 9. It made it seem like his entire regeneration was just a waste to me. Maybe I didn't like the 50th so much because 9 was (and is) my favorite and the episode just made him so... unnecessary? I don't know. I didn't hate, but I didn't like it either.
(Also I would in no way consider myself an expert on Doctor Who, I'm just a teenage girl who fell in love with a madman in a blue box. )

I can see that, I admit it wasn't the absolute best episode but I did enjoy it. I have to admit I was confused as to why Hurt Doctor regenerated at the end, it seemed like they had forgotten the whole he regenerated into Eccleston's Doctor because he destroyed the Time Lords, but they didn't give a real reason, he wasn't injured that I saw, I know there was supposedly something about Eccleston not wanting to return or something but still seems if nothing else they could have done more than just him stepping in the TARDIS and regenerating.

Perhaps Ecceleston's Doctor(Pre-Retcon) existed before the In-Universe Retcon took place. Wonder how they're gonna discuss this, Post-In-Whoniverse Retcon that is.

all Im saying is that, from the sound of it, it should have like.....torn open a hole in the fabric of the universe I mean, that retcon, it changed a major major MAJOR event. In doing so didn't they practically erase the necessity for Ecceleston's Doctor's existence, meaning that it altered the time stream making everything that has happened with Ecceleston's doctor on not even happen!!!!

Well it makes the Daleks surviving make a bit more sense....but it makes a lot of other things make less sense.

12 has landed. So what did those of us who watched think? Personally I enjoyed the episode, loved Capaldi.

I liked that he was a bit alien to human culture, like questioning what a bedroom is for

After finally watching it, I dunno. Seems okay, a little rough around the edges, but it's new. Might be better than Smith, juries still out.

Just finished watching the second episode. Certainly an interesting one. Still not sure about Capaldi.

I like Capaldi so far, he'll take getting used to but overall I like him. I'm curious about the Robin Hood episode
