I have a feeling it will turn out like Battleship (jesus what a premise that film had xD)
A decent enough Popcorn flick to watch, but not overly amazing.

Then again Battleship was based.....on a board game, this is a somewhat original (in that it's not based on a game and not exactly like another movie) story. Maybe I'm just optimistic because I love mecha/kaiju films and shows and America hasn't had a good one in a while so I'm hopeful

Aren't those Australian flags in the picture though? xD
But yea, Battleship, based on the Hasbro board game... what next Hollywood? xD

I think the film takes place throughout the Pacific but the film is American made I believe.
as for what's next.....Hungry Hungry Hippos or Life. Maybe Monopoly....unless one of those Wallstreet type movies counts as Monopoly

Transformers didn't have giant organic monsters. Just robots.

I think that America could have a thriving Kaiju/Mecha movie scene. We already know that it worked with King Kong, and I think people would accept them.
Time to wrench Mecha from the jaws of the Japanese monopoly, and give it a renaissance, I say.

sounds good. Plus the mecha do look pretty good, perhaps not as sleek as some mecha but then again their weapons, they aren't supposed to be flashy

I wholeheartedly agree to that, despite being an admitted fan of the Mobile Suit Gundam shows really. (Full Metal Panic to a lesser degree!) The guy who directed the Hellboy movies helmed the project so this is going to be epic!!!

Gundum, Eureka 7, a few others. Mecha are always fun. Which is why I'm excited about this film

If this works, it would give me a glimmer of honest hope for the future, no lie.

I sense several upcoming Factpile matches after this movie comes out.
But it looks cool. I hope it can throw off the stupidness that giant robots got from Michael Bay, as well as bring giant monsters back into the movie industry.

We can disagree on so many things, yet I find matters like these to be far from one of them. I can't believe Giant Robots got a bad reputation whenever one brings them up though. This is the same kind of deal I try to forget when I try to look for novel series with tolerable casts in them.
