In Demon's Souls I had killed like 4 bosses I think, in Dark Souls only 1 or 2, maybe 3
Well the whole ghost form and world tendency stuff was all backwards. If you die you lose half your max health until you beat a boss and the game gets harder the more you die but easier if you die less, should be the opposite. Also being more killable as a ghost than alive makes no sense

I assume its the games way of punishing you for dieing/being a ghost.

Still doesn't make sense design-wise. If you make the game easier for people who don't die you're lessening their challenge, that'd tick me off if that was the reason I played. And if you make it harder for those who die often it won't do much more than get them frustrated and quit

You can also earn your human form back in demon's souls using an item and by invading enemy worlds or helping them beat bosses. Dath is supposed to encourage you to assist or kill other players to earn back your health. Helping you learn how to beat a hard level. Plus a ring to lessen how much health you lose.
That isn't the case in Dark Souls, where all that death takes way is the ability to get invaded and summon help from NPC's and players.
The games reward patience and determination, learning enemy movement patterns and traps through trial and error is the game.

People always overrect to the fact that players can invade your world. It's often some of the most heart-pounding and intense part of gameplay. There are precautions set into the game to keep super high level players from invading and ruining your experience, and invasions hardly ever happen anyways. Specially demon's souls (where I ran the whole game human being invaded only 2-3 times).
Plus, that's part of what summoning is for. It's to help you beat a hard level and beat back any possible invaders if there are any.
It's part of the struggle as an undead cursed to die again and again. Part of the fun is finally triumphing over a level, beating the boss, and getting to discover a whole new area... if it's too hard, go somewhere else and progress where you couldn't before.

Doesn't matter what they do, I just don't want to interact with other people (especially not strangers), it bothers me just because someone else is there. The only SP game with an online option that I kept "on" was Dragon's Dogma cause it's just AI Pawns that come over, and also you can summon your friend's pawns for free so I let my roomie and mister J borrow mine so their game was totes broken

ght, I see. That's your preference and i respect it, though these games might not be for you. Unless you enjoy the ability to summon NPC's and the versatility in which you can play and level.

Ya I just don't really like some of the big parts of the game but I wouldn't say it's bad

Oh well, I have Dark Arisen now for when I pick it up again. The idea of being invaded always put me off too, though I only have Demon Souls. But DC88 (From FP) keeps trying to get me to buy Dark Souls xD The thing he told me is, if a guy invades and kills you, you can... do something to him, put a bounty on his head as it were, so one of the guilds would go and kill him as a way of revenge. Sounded fun xD

Random online joins bother me in and of themselves, it's basically the same as when they try interacting with me irl except worse because games are my relaxing moments

I understand that, I hate random joins too. Ofc, this would really be the only game I'd play where it's all but forced upon you. Don't think you can turn it off in Dark Souls.
But I play SP for a reason.

@ru
To 'turn off online' in Dark souls 1 you basically just have to go hollow (die once) there's no penalties in the first Dark Souls for dieing. In the second, you can always be invaded but the chance of being invaded is greatly reduced and can be further reduced by burning an item in the bonfire.
And the Darkmoon covenant. Basically you indict them and it allows these guys to invade them more easily and kill them
