It's good. Slow & dialogue heavy though.

I found the new one well-done but kinda pointless

My opinions on WS himself He'll likely be back, I enjoyed the way they did him though I somewhat wished they had kept his history with Black Widow from the comics, during his brainwashing and indoctrination he was used to train her KGB agent self, a dark mentor for her old self, it worked don't get me wrong, but still would have been interesting to have her realize her SHIELD Mentor had been slain by her KGB mentor and that said KGB mentor was the top HYDRA operative to her top SHIELD operative..but as I said the way they did them worked and I can't complain too much. His return is inevitable though no matter what. As for Batroc....I'm just glad they got the character reasonably right..except for the fact he's not from Algiers in the comics..he's French..

Isn't comic Widow supposed to be pretty old though, kept young by a super soldier serum? In the movie it says she was born in 1980

I'd have to double check birth year but...would be hard for her to be in the KGB at eleven though...unless MCU's KGB lasted quite a bit past 1991. She did say KGB in the movie right? I feel like she did..

Godzilla (2014)
Release Date: may 16th 2014 Director: Gareth Edwards Cast: Kick-Ass, Saito, Scarlet Witch, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, Arthur Spiderwick and Walter White
Synopsis: Scientists and military find kaijus and hide them from the public, kaijus are polite enough to wait until the time of the movie to appear. Army can't do shit to either, they fight. Also people talk and stuff.
Setting: Modern day earth, plus a couple kaijus
Story: It does the job I guess, the main plot that is. The military actions are pretty much what they'd do irl, big monster appears=kill it, of course, it's stupid and douchy but it's realistic. The sub plots are generic useless clutter, made worse by the main human characters always "coincidentally" being exactly where the big stuff happens. Speaking of characters most of them suck too, most meaning all of them except Serizawa (and his assistant, if she's relevant enough to count) and uh, I think there was another but I forgot who.
Special FX: The Kaijus look pretty real so that's good, though Zilla is kind of a fattie for some reason
Kaiju fights: 3 things, one yay and two nays. The Yay: when Zilla kicks ass it's badass as fuck. Nay#1: the fights are generically choreographed, it alternates between complete dominance on either side, and the sides turn back to Zilla's favor only when kick-ass does stuff that distracts Muto. Nay#2: Zilla is described as an "Alpha Predator" but xe just kills the other kaiju and leaves, doesn't take one bite off them. He also strangely never kills any humans, even accidentally
Final Judgement: Basically like Pacific Rim as I predicted, the kaiju parts are mostly really cool, the rest is boring, which sucks because "the rest" is like 3/4s of the movie

Xmen: Days of Future Past
Release date: May 23rd 2014 Director: Bryan Singer Cast: Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart
Synopsis: In 2023, Sentinels have basically destroyed the world, the remaining Xmen send Logan's mind into his past self to warn young Xavier and Eric of the future war and prevent it
Setting: Mostly the crapsack future and the early 70s, a bit of good future at the end
Story: It's ok, nothing bad about it really, barring Xavier still being an overly idealistic moron and opposing Eric's pragmatic solutions that would actually change something
Action: The fight scenes are badass as hell, the Sentinels kick ass, Wolvie's still awesome and there's moar Fassbender!Magneto badassery
Special FX: same drill as usual, pretty much all movies with a big budget have good SFX nowadays
Final Judgement: Go to cinema naow

Release Date: August 1st 2014 Directors: James Gunn & Nicole Perlman Cast: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Batista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close & Benicio del Toro Synopsis: Starlord is a ravager (which seems to mean an outlaw who finds stuff for money), Gamora is an assassin, Rocket and Groot are bounty hunters, Drax is a big angry mofo (with additional depth, no worries) and Ronan, the bad guy, has managed to piss off every single one of them, which as in turns out isn't a great plan Setting: Across the milky way galaxy, a pretty good part of it, they mention almost traversing a quadrant at one point. Also the inside of a bunch of ships, a couple alien planets, earth during the short prologue. Oh and inside the head of a dead celestial too Story: It's nothing really complex but it's really well executed, the only down point with it is that the big bad comes across as kinda plain compared to the Guardians, though imo that's more due to them being awesome than him sucking per se. Speaking of them: Peter/Starlord is pretty interesting because he's like an action movie badass (well he is) but he also doesn't take stuff seriously (of which I'll give no exemple because it'd ruin it), Gamora isn't perfect by my standards but she's pretty badass, I think I like her better than Black Widow (which btw it's nice that she isn't just space!BW), Drax is a good subversion of the usual stupid angry brute (again no spoilers but let's say he's more Asura than Kratos), Groot doesn't say much (little more than a pokemon actually) but his actions denote a simple personality that is both badass and funny (much like the movie itself) and Rocket is like uh..ok let's put it this way: if the others weren't really cool too he'd be like the DK!Joker of this movie Action: Reflecting the film as a whole, the action scenes are just on the sweet spot between comedic exaggeration and believably grounded, it's like "normally that'd be kinda silly in a grounded setting but I totes buy that this could happen in this one". And there's plenty of it too, it never really slows down completely, when there's no badassery there's pretty much always hilarity Humor: I'll be direct, we could totally call this an action comedy, seriously. This movie is hilarious, like way funnier than many actual comedies. While also being way more badass than lots of action movies. GotG is being all "yeah fuck genres, I'm just that awesome" Special FX: 'Nuff said Final Judgement: Guardians of the Galaxy is fucking awesome ! It's near Avengers level, and mostly because Loki >>> Ronan. Not so shabby for obscure characters most people never heard about
