Self explanatory, don't read this if you haven't completed TLoU (unless you don't care about spoilers). What did you think of the characters ? Do you find Joel too violent or morally ambiguous ? Do you like the ending ? Would you have done the same ? Did you know you don't actually have to kill all 3 doctors ? Discuss ^^

I guessed that about the Doctors. But I torched them xD
It's difficult you know. I can see the bigger picture but damn, if I'd been with her that long, and thought of her as a daughter... Sorry Marlene.

Eh, the firelies were dicks, fuck 'em. And the bigger picture too.
The developers said some people try to avoid killing even the 1st one who blocks the way, some only kill him, some only kill him because they don't realize they could kill the others, some kill all 3 because they don't know you only need to kill the 1st one, some flamethrower the entire room.
Also, related to what I said about the game telling about you as a person, you see Marlene getting in the way, then it skips to Joel driving. Mister J thought it was sad cause Joel sacrificed his "2nd daughter" to save the world, Rose (my roomie) thought that it was cool they left it ambiguous about what happened and I immediately assumed that Joel killed Marlene

Well I flamed them individually, didn't wanna risk hitting Ellie.
I thought for half a second he left, then thought, no. No he took her.
The way evolution works, she wouldn't be the only one. I know she isn't the "only" chance. So I'd have done the same.
Considering the Fireflies are trying to find a cure and save the world, yea, they're certainly fucking dicks about it.

The thing is they seem to find the military oppressive when they're not at all, the people we see them rough up in the street either went inside forbidden buildings or outside the walls and they only kill infected ones, with a lethal shot. They shoot one guy who was trying to flee. This isn't oppression, that's keeping the QZ safe

That's based off the Boston QZ. But the military control the food and water, and have the guns and power.
To idiotic thugs like the Fireflies (who seem to operate exactly the fucking same) that's all the excuse they need to riot.
I mean, Boston had to be doing something right, 20 years and it's still there, unlike the other, long since abandoned QZ's you visit. Or the Firefly one.

So they think "in control" means "oppressive", but they want to be in control, so...they're full of shit

So...didn't find Joel excessively brutal or ruthless ? Everyone seems to complain about that

Not really. Considering he's survived for 20 years in a world like that... he'd reach a level of cynicism where he'll do anything to survive. Considering it seems in the interim parts he even teaches Ellie some skills.
Seems reasonable.

That's what I figure. Besides except for some soldiers at the beginning he doesn't kill anyone who didn't deserve it. It's all infected, hunters and fireflies.

Precisely. The fireflies and hunters all shoot at you first, as he told Ellie. It's either him or me.
Henry... well I saw it coming, still didn't make it easy to watch. Considering they showed it. Damn.

Didn't like him

Why, coz he was nice, trying to look after his little brother?
Or because he left you behind? To be honest, I would've killed him for that too. Though, like Joel, I'd have been stopped by Ellie.

He didn't allow his brother to do shit, and was overprotective, if he had taught him to defend himself he wouldn't have died. Leaving me behind nah, I'd do the same thing, except I'd do it right after meeting him, not in the middle of fleeing together. He was also a stupid jerk about his infected brother, blaming and threatening Joel. It was his fault for being a dumbass and a shit guardian. Also because he was a generic human.
